Dear St. Joseph Family with Elementary, Junior High, and High School Students,
I know that there are many different options for parents to consider as they try to make the best choice possible for their child’s education. I would like to take a moment and remind you that Catholic schools have a long tradition of promoting excellence in academics, encouraging spiritual growth, and assisting in the formation of students in…
MIND…
Every student has the potential to succeed and with a comprehensive academic environment conducive to educational reflection and study, students are given a strong foundation on which to build bright academic futures.
HEART…
“It is not the magnitude of our actions but the amount of love that is put into them that matters.”–Mother Teresa
Catholic education fosters a sense of community and an abiding understanding of the importance of service to others. With a focus on actively living one’s faith and providing an example of character to others in daily life, Catholic schools assist students in realizing their own personal gifts and learning to value the contribution of others.
& SPIRIT…
Whether it is on the field of competition or in celebration of a job well done, Catholic schools invite students to strive for excellence in all that is undertaken, to challenge their perceptions of limitations, and to exceed them.
We at Saint Joseph Parish have identified educating the youth of our parish in the Catholic faith as one of our top priorities. While our parish can no longer offer Catholic education for children in Kindergarten to Eighth grade through a traditional full-time elementary school, we are willing, eager, and able to support your efforts to send your child to a nearby Catholic school through our St. Joseph School - Legacy Scholarship Program. Scholarships are available for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.
There are 2 options for families:
St. Joseph School Legacy Scholarship: This is a "merit" based program available to all families regardless of financial need.
St. Joseph School Legacy Scholarship & Assistance: In addition to the "merit" scholarships, this program will further assist families that need additional financial resources to send their children to a Catholic school.
Our parishioners make a serious and sacrificial commitment of Time, Talent, and Treasure so that we may be able to provide scholarships to families like yours. In order to be good stewards of these gifts, we are asking families to complete an application (see the link below) which explains the ways they have made St. Joseph Parish their spiritual home. Please complete only one application, either the Legacy Scholarship application (merit-based) or the combination Legacy Scholarship and Assistance application (merit plus assistance).
This year's Legacy (Merit) Scholarships have been set at $1000 for families with one child and $1500 for families with more than one child in a Catholic school. Additional funds are available on a case by case basis for the Assistance Program. Upon receipt of your completed application and supporting documentation, scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will contact your school of choice and notify them of the award so that they can adjust your net tuition accordingly. The grant will be paid to the school over the course of the school year.
In addition to helping your family financially, we want to celebrate your children’s accomplishments. St. Joseph Parish will hold a special Mass where we will celebrate all the children of the parish who have received a Sacrament (First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation) and all those who are graduating from 8th Grade and High School. Each child attending this special Mass will receive a gift from the parish. The date of the Mass will be coming soon.
Thank you and God bless,
Fr. Thomas M. Pastorius
Pastor of St. Joseph Parish
