As St. Joseph plans to celebrate Christmas this year in the midst of a global pandemic, I want to encourage everyone to make this Advent a time to prepare our hearts and homes. I think this video is worth the time to view as Christmas draws near.
The story of the birth of Jesus is a familiar one. We’ve heard it many times. The temptation is to zone out when we start to hear it because we think we fully understand. In this talk on Advent and Christmas Dr. Scott Hahn shows us new ways to understand the birth of Jesus Christ. This new understand could certainly add depth to one’s celebration of Christmas. Style of Content
Audio recording of Dr. Hahn giving a talk to a live studio audience.
TBH - The recording is not great. The sound isn’t very clear. The whole recording sounds a little muffled. You can get the message, but it isn’t as clear as it could be. Dr. Hahn’s voice is smooth and soothing, but muffled recording can be distracting.
Content
Dr. Hahn unpacks the infancy narratives from Matthew and Luke’s gospels and gives context and depth of understanding to a story we think we know so well. In addition, Dr. Hahn explains how this story of Jesus and our practice of the faith celebrates a truth about who Jesus is. Namely, that Jesus is King of the heavens and earth. There is much about the infancy narratives that helps us to understand Jesus’ kingship and this talk helps the listener to understand.
